He's My Best

Today, I got sick.

(No, I'm not pregnant, seeing as how my sickness was a result of that once a month tragedy we women experience... ugh)

So he put our mattress in the living room for ideal movie watching.

Then we did nothing else for the rest of the day.

It is exactly what I have been needing. Ever since we got married it feels like we are on the go all the time. Between working, family events, and having things to get done to finish settling in, we just never stop!

It was perfect, for me anyways. Chance likes to be busy, but he enjoyed it as well.

We probably won't see one of these days for quite a while.

Back to life.

Weekend Shenanigans

WE. LOVE. CAMPING.

Before we even got married we bought a tent together. And we wanted to camp on our honeymoon, we just didn't find a place to. Anyways, I don't really have a lot to say so pictures will have to do (even though the pictures don't do the world justice).

My husband's magical. heh heh heh.

Why I Love Him

Adjustments

There's something that people always say and something that I've always been expecting:

"Good luck living with a guy. It's definitely an adjustment!"

So when Chance and I moved in together, I was waiting for all the "it totally bugs me when he does that" moments...

They have yet to come.

Let me just tell you... Chance shoves every stereotype about boys right in the face. Chance is the cleanest and neatest person I know. He never doesn't have any quirks that I think are annoying. He can fix, cook, and basically do anything. He makes our bed every day, ~~helps me make dinner~~ I help HIM make dinner, he sews the patches in his own clothes, and has done all the laundry thus far.

I on the other hand...

I leave dishes in the sink, all my stuff on the bathroom counters, I leave the cupboards open and the food out, I leave the fridge open while I pour a glass of milk. I hate washing my hair, I leave my clothes on the floor and my shoes are all over the place. I don't even know how much money is in my account or how to even access my online banking account (thanks Mom for being my personal accountant...).

So who is really doing the adjusting here? Hahaha.. poor guy. I sure have quite the catch. He makes me want to be a better, cleaner, neater, smarter, cooler person.

I'm sure Chance believes that I do have some adjusting to do, but to be completely honest, I just haven't! He's so humble. I'm so thankful to have HIM. To learn and grow from and with him.

(Oh and if you can't tell from that last picture, Chance also has to adjust to me taking up 3/4 of the closet, plus the closet in the other room. Oops!)

Cousins Reunited

Cousin Scooter arrived home from his 2 year mission to Mexico on Thursday. We went out to the airport to greet him when

he came out of the terminal and right when we parked, cousin Isaac texted me and said "He's here!"

WHAT!!

Well we missed him walking out of the terminal, but I still got a pretty big (he's 6 ' 7 ") hug from this cousin of mine!

Isaac, Scooter, and I are all the same age. Isaac was born in February, and Scooter and I were born in May just 2 days apart. After growing up together, the many birthday dinners at Grandma's house, sleepovers, and adventures, naturally we became the best of friends. So excited to have them both home now!

Scooter's homecoming was the following Sunday doubled with Max's farewell. Missionary work is such an amazing thing, and I truly admire all those who serve.

Back in my Freshman Year of college at UVU, I was living with Annie, and Scooter was also going to UVU, so we were able to see each other and hang out. Annie even had some classes with him and they became friends.

Saturday Is Mermaid Day

Oh sweet, hot, bright, SUMMER!

On this lovely Saturday, nothing was better than sleeping in 'till 9:30, making german pancakes with homemade almond syrup (since we actually have the necessary tools and items to do so now) and fresh strawberrys...

and heading out for a swim to get some sun and cool us off on this (dang) hot summer day.

"Always be yourself. Unless you can be a mermaid, always be a mermaid."

What a hunk.

Man, I can just tell we will thrive off weekends.

Holidays

the 4th (weekend)

It may seem apparent that my favorite Holiday is Christmas, and I'll tell ya, it's definitely up there, maybe even a tie for #1.
But that #1 for years now has been the 4th of July!

Summer, America, Red White and Blue, cold treats, parades, waterplay, patriotism, Ray Charles version of America the Beautiful, FIREWORKS. It's all so perfect.

This year, Chance and I went to Delta for the 4th weekend. I've heard a lot about how "Delta does the 4th right" so I was anxious to see what I was in for!

Aaaaand it was great! Parade in the morning, breakfast at his grandma's house, walk in the park with lots of entertainment, to the reservoir to swim, and the demolition derby!

The derby was fun... though my prayers and heart go out to the family of Robert Steele. He was judging the derby and was hit head on by a collision of cars in an accident. We were only sitting 10 rows up and it happened right in front of us. Those kinds of images can't be erased... It was very scary. It did kind of put a damper on the rest of the night... My prayers also go out to the men in the cars..

I did read later a statement from his family that said he had a real appreciated for cars and the derby, that he loved the smell of gasoline and the rev of the engines, and had even been in the hospital multiple times for motorcycle accidents and things alike. They said he died doing what he loved. I was glad to hear that..

The next day was lake day! I love love love love love water. Love it.

It also was Chance's brother Ty's birthday, who passed away a few years ago.

I never had the chance to meet him, but I sure wish I did! We visited Ty's grave out at the cemetery and it was such a beautiful night.

Have you ever had a purple cow? It's like a rootbeer float, but with grape juice. I don't love grape juice, but it was good and we had it in Ty's honor. Happy Birthday Ty!

For Grandma & Grandpa

As you may or may not know, my Grandma and Grandpa Haws both passed away in the last year. It's still very strange for me to think about. Never did I think they wouldn't be at my wedding... physically anyways. When Chance and I went to see Grandpa, knowing he probably didn't have a lot of time left, when we were saying goodbye and heading back to Salt Lake, Grandpa promised me he and grandma would be there at our wedding.

At our wedding after we cut the cake, that's usually when the bouquet toss would be. Not for us. Shortly after we got engaged I knew I wanted to do something different. The bouquet is usually tossed to any single women that are there and whoever catches the bouquet is said to be the next one married. It's a fun tradition! With my bouquet I decided to do something quite opposite. Instead of throwing it to the single women, I dedicated our bouquet to my Grandparents, who had passed away, and their long lasting marriage. They would have been one of the longest, if not the longest, married couples there. They just celebrated their 60th anniversary. How amazing! So we dedicated the bouquet to them and said that we would later put the bouquet on their grave site. Today we got to do that! Luckily my bouquet lasted 3 weeks, unfortunately my grandparents do not have headstones yet. But we placed the flowers on their plots. I'm so thankful for my grandparents and their amazing example of marriage.
